What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Throughout this project, I have come across lots of different types of technology that have helped me to achieve my final product. This has come in the range of software such as Adobe Photoshop, websites such as Survey Monkey and a camera, which helped me to take my photographs for my media product.

SurveyMonkey

To research our target audiences needs, we used Survey Monkey to comply a list of questions to see what they wanted to see in a music magazine. The website SurveyMonkey gives you the ability to send surveys across the internet for people to complete. This had the advantage of not sending out lots of questionnaires to various people in paper. However a disadvantage would be that both the creator and the respondent would need internet connection and know how to use SurveyMonkey. However the website use data from the questionnaires to transfer it into graphs and I found this more helpful to interpret then say if it just used numbers and percentages.

Adobe Photoshop

Abobe Photoshop was the most important software that I used throughout the whole piece of making my media product. At first I struggled to come to terms with how to use it as I had never previously used it before. However after time I became used to it and this enabled me to produce a successful final media product. I especially enjoyed using the stroke effect, this enabled me to give most of my larger style font I used a more professional style. Overall I have found Photoshop a reliable software when creating my media product. Once I learnt how to use it properly, it became a lot easier to use.

Flickr

When carrying out research I used Flickr in order to annotate current music magazines so that I had a better understanding
of what made a good music magazine for when I made my product. By using Flickr an advantage of using this was that I could annotate different magazines very quickly. I achieved this through using the 'add note' icon. This enabled me to analyse specific features of magazines that really appealed to me as I could use the text box to zoom into a specific area of the magazine. However Flickr itself isn't a software, it is a website therefore a disadvantage to this is that it needs internet connection.

Blogger

Throughout most of my project I have also used blogger. I have used blogger to show all of my coursework and to keep it in one specific place. An advantage that I have found with Blogger is the labels. These are useful in separating out different evaluation questions, the preliminary material and the final products. Overall I have
found blogger useful and easy to navigate around the website.

Issuu

When presenting some of my evaluation questions I used Issuu, to give some of the questions a more presentational feel towards them. I used my written documents from Word and transferred them into another document onto Issuu, this was then uploaded onto my blog

Microsoft Word

When creating text documents for my evaluation I used Microsoft Word. There isn't really any downsides to Microsoft Word as I have regularly used this software before and have been familiar with it from a very young age. I also found it easy to convert my written texts on to websites on the internet as well.

Camera

For my photographs I used a camera. I took photos within the studio at college and made sure that they were in focus. I then used a lead to transfer these photographs onto the computer and then onto Adobe Photoshop to be then used within my media product.
